Install the PolyTrans Demos

This section describes how to install the demonstration versions of the PolyTrans software for Microsoft Windows (Intel), Microsoft DOS, Silicon Graphics and SUN Microsystem machines. The demos are are fully working versions of the PolyTrans software which are limited only in the following manner:

Exported files will have every 5th polygon removed,
NuGraf .bdf scenes cannot be saved to disk.

Installing the PolyTrans Demo for Intel Windows 3.1/95/NT

Microsoft Windows (Intel Platforms) program requirements:

Windows 95, Windows NT, or 16-bit Windows 3.1/3.11 using Win32s.
Preferably 16Mb of memory.
256 color or better video card.
12Mb of free hard disk space.

If you will be installing the demo under the older 16-bit Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups operating systems then you first install the latest 1.30 release of the Win32s operating system extension (this software allows 32-bit application programs to be run under 16-bit Windows). To install the Win32s system software, change to the "Okino\demos\win32s" directory on this CDROM and execute the pw1118.exe file from within Microsoft Windows.

To install the PolyTrans demo software, change to the "Okino\demos\polytran\win" directory on this CDROM and execute the polytran.exe file from within Microsoft Windows. Follow the prompts to install the software.

Installing the DOS Demo Version

To install the command-line based version of PolyTrans that runs under Microsoft DOS:

   - Create a directory on your Intel machine called "polytran".
   - Change to the 'Okino\demos\polytran\dos' directory on this CDROM.
   - Copy the pt_dos.zip and pkunzip.exe files to the "polytran" directory on your machine.
   - Change to the "polytran" directory on your machine.
   - Execute 'pkunzip -e -d pt_dos.zip'
   - Execute 'del pt_dos.zip'.
   - Online man pages are available. 'pt.man' describes the usage of PolyTrans.

Installing the Silicon Graphics Demo Version

To install the command-line based version of PolyTrans for the Silicon Graphics UNIX platform:

   - Create a directory on your SGI machine called "polytrans".
   - Change to the 'Okino\demos\polytran\sgi' directory on this CDROM.
   - Copy the pt_sgi.tar.Z file to the "polytrans" directory on your machine.
   - Change to the "polytrans" directory on your machine.
   - Execute 'uncompress pt_sgi.tar.Z'
   - Execute 'tar xvof pt_sgi.tar'.
   - Execute 'rm pt_sgi.tar'.
   - Online man pages are available. 'pt.man' describes the usage of PolyTrans.

Installing the SUN Microsystems Demo Version

To install the command-line based version of PolyTrans for the SUN Microsystems UNIX platform:

   - Create a directory on your SUN machine called "polytrans".
   - Change to the 'Okino\demos\polytran\sun' directory on this CDROM.
   - Copy the pt_sun.tar.Z file to the "polytrans" directory on your machine.
   - Change to the "polytrans" directory on your machine.
   - Execute 'uncompress pt_sun.tar.Z'
   - Execute 'tar xvof pt_sun.tar'
   - Execute 'rm pt_sun.tar'
   - Online man pages are available. 'pt.man' describes the usage of PolyTrans.
